Mrs. Esther A. Aronhalt, 60, of Mount Storm, died June 20, at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville, Va. Born Oct. 3, 1941, in Mount Storm, she was the daughter of Mabel E. (Hawk) Aronhalt of Mount Storm and the late Arngie H. Aronhalt. Besides her mother, she is survived by one son, Greg D. Aronhalt of Mount Storm; one sister, Marion P. Bayliss of Winchester, Va.; one brother, Edward W. Aronhalt of Mount Storm and four grandchildren, Trista Aronhalt, Marissa Aronhalt, Jani Kitzmiller and Christopher Kitzmiller. Mrs. Mary Rebecca (Kuykendall) Landes, 91, of Baltimore and formerly of Petersburg, died June 9, in Baltimore. Born Oct. 10, 1910, in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Ida B. (Sites) Kuykendall. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jesse B. Landes, Feb. 3, 1997 She is survived by two daughters, Mary E. Mezger of Timonium, Md. and Gloria Stichel of Baltimore; one sister, Vina Hines of Dorcas; one brother, Jesse Kuykendall of Dorcas; two grandchildren, Robert M. Stichel and Laurie A. Mrs. Blanche Elizabeth (Ours) Vance, 80, of Dorcas, died June 13, at Cumberland Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md. Born March 18, 1922, in Dorcas, she was the daughter of the late John Nicholas and Mary Belle Ours. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Edgar "Bill" Vance, Oct. 22, 1969. She is survived by three sons, Delmer C. Vance of Cabins, Gene S. Vance of Dorcas and Gary A. Vance of Petersburg; four daughters, Neva W. James Jonathan McClellen Redman, 94, of Petersburg, died June 14, at the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg, where he had resided since June 9, 1993. Born April 19, 1908, in Petersburg, he was the son of the late John and Virginia (Gaiter) Redman. He was twice married and preceded in death by both wives, Viola (Gilmore) Redman and Hazel (Hackney) Redman. He is survived by one son, Thomas M. Redman and wife, Clarissa, of Wellsville, Ohio; one daughter-in-law, Selena Redman of Petersburg; nine grandchildren, James M. Redman, Timothy R. Redman, Sidney D. Redman, Barbara Dawn Smith, Gwendolyn A. Mrs. Bernice (Sites) Shrader, 70, of Petersburg, died June 6, at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg. Born Nov. 29, 1931, in Whitmer, she was the daughter of the late Osce Sites and Dorothy (Dolly) Sites. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Shrader, whom she married July 11, 1953. He died June 24, 1998. died May 21, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester,
Va. Born Nov. 14, 1927, at Upper Tract, he
was the son of the late Daniel Judy and Eula (Sears) Judy
Parker. Surviving are his wife of 51 years,
Elaine M. (Kimble) Judy; two sons, David D. Judy and wife,
Susan, of Arthur, and Dennis R. Judy and wife, Jeannie, of
Snellville, Ga.; three sisters, Denisa "Boots" Alt and
Eleanor Dawson, both of Petersburg, and Martha Runion of
Lahmansville; six grandchildren, Elaine (Judy) Price and

Ft. Lewis, Wash., Jeremy Judy of Snellville, Joshua Judy of
Destin, Fla., Sgt. Christopher Judy, U.S. Army, Ft. Lewis,

Frederick, Md., died May 22, at the Beverly Health Center,
Frederick, Md. Born April 30, 1923 in Philadelphia,
she was the daughter of the late Charles and Aloise Frances
(Ireton) Poncar. She was also preceded in death by her first
husband, Walter McLain Iliff and her second husband, Emerson
Ray Byram. She is survived by one daughter,
Evelyn "Bunny" O'Dell of Frederick and Scherr; three sons,
Walter McLain Iliff, Woodbridge, Va., Bruce Douglas Byram,
Jacksonville, Fla. and Jeffrey Alan Byram of Chicago; and
three grandchildren, Laura Iliff, Douglas Byram and Jinger
Byram. Funeral services were May 29, at the

Gaffney, 83, died May 12, in Rochester, N.Y. Born on October 12, 1918, at Streby,
West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Oscar J. and
Charlotte "Lottie" (Evans) Weimer. She was also preceded in
death by her husband, Bernard "Buddy" Gaffney . Following a memorial service in
Rochester, N.Y., Mrs. Gaffney's remains will be transported
to Ocala, Fla., so that she can be laid to rest beside of
her husband Buddy. A graveside service was in Ocal.

Florence (Gott) T. Stackpole. She was preceded in death by
her husband, Edward Baker, Oct. 29, 1981. She is survived by one sister, Edith

Miley (Rumers) Crowe Mongold. She was also preceded in death
by her stepfather, Homer Gipson Mongold. She is survived by two daughters,
Elaine Turney of Montrose and Ann Michael of Laurel, Md.;
six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one niece,
Carol Ours of Dorcas; one nephew, Wesley Thompson of

of Petersburg, and formerly of Manchester, Ga., died April
28, at the E.A. Hawse Continuous Care Center, Baker, where
she had resided the past year. Born Jan. 22, 1907, in Birmingham,
Ala., she was the daughter of the late Robert Home and
Jannie (Patterson) Adkins. She was also preceded in death by
her husband, Zellars "Pete" Parker in 1942. Mrs. Parker was a member of the
Manchester Baptist Church, Manchester and had resided with
her son,, for the past 35 years. She is survived by her son, Wade R.
"Jack" Parker in Petersburg; one sister, Ruth Hauze, two
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Graveside services were May 4, at the

of Petersburg, died April 28, at home. He was born at Mitchell Station, Ala.,
on Aug. 27, 1918, the son of the late Wilson Hopkins and
Minnie Susan Smith Van Meter. He is survived by his wife of 50
years, the former Martha Chenoweth. Also surviving is one
daughter, Pamela Sue Gobert of Houston, Texas; four sons,
Wilson H. "Hoppy" of Petersburg, C. Sterling of Saratoga,
Calif., David P. IV, Petersburg and Charles A. Van Meter of
Boston, Mass. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and
one sister, Mary Sue Van Meter of Baltimore, Md. The body was cremated and a memorial
service was May 2, at the Petersburg Presbyterian

98, of Upper Tract, died May 4, at the Pendleton Nursing
Home, in Franklin, where she had resided the past
month. Born Sept. 9, 1903, in Brushy Run, she
was the daughter of the late Martin Dow Calhoun and Rachel
Ann (Graham) Calhoun. She lived with her grandmother, Lydia
Graham while growing up. On Nov. 5, 1930, she married Roy
Washington Miller who preceded her in death on June 8,
1967. She is survived by two sons, Roland
Miller and wife, Arvella, of Petersburg and Charles "Bud"
Miller of Upper Tract; four daughters, Anna Lynn Westfall
and husband, Leroy of Harrisonburg, Va., Shirley Riggleman
and husband, Brooke, of Mount Crawford, Va., Sue Knott and

his wife, Joyce VanMeter; two sons, Mark VanMeter of Tampa,

Moomau. She is survived by her husband of 46
years, Charles E. Coffman; two brothers, George B. Moomau of

the daughter of the late Fred E. and Claudia (Smith) Harman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Forest Payton

44, of Charleston, S.C. and formerly of Petersburg, died
Feb. 24, at her home. Born March 11, 1957 in Petersburg, she
was the daughter of Elvin Cleaver of Petersburg and Janet
(Mongold) Nelson of Bloomington, Md. She was preceded in
death by one brother, Elvin R. Cleaver Jr. Besides her parents, she is survived
by her husband, Patrick Lovell Work; her stepmother, Norma
Bowman Cleaver; her stepfather, the Rev. Donald "Duke"
Nelson; one half-brother, Clint Nelson of Petersburg; two
uncles, Earl Mongold and Vernon "Hoss" Mongold of
Moorefield; one aunt, Mallie Combs of Moorefield; and four

was the daughter of the late Walter Filmore Kitzmiller and
Prudence Etalka (Aronhalt) Kitzmiller. She married Amos O.
Cosner, Aug. 28, 1928 and he preceded her in death Dec. 19,
1994. She is survived by one daughter,
Frances Alt and husband, Delmar of Petersburg; one
granddaughter, Tammy Pehowski of Winchester, Va,; three
great-grandchildren, E.J., Amanda and Desert; two sisters,
Corene Shepard and Kathleen Rinker and husband, Luther, all

his first wife, Glady Stump, Jan. 23, 1990. They were
married July 27, 1951. He is survived by his second wife, Lee
Hartman, whom he married Jan. 9, 2001; one daughter, Nancy
Hill of Moorefield; one son, Frank Wilson, Frostburg, Md;

Paso; three sisters, twin sister Aurora Bosley of Petersburg
and Lori Roldan and Monica Ceballos, both of El Paso; one

Baltimore Md., as a result of injuries sustained in a motor
vehicle accident. Born March 13, 1995, in Petersburg, he
was the son of Lewis L. Ludwig Jr. of Capon Bridge, and
Suzanne Barr Ludwig of Moorefield. Surviving in addition to his parents
is his stepmother, Elizabeth Ludwig; one stepbrother, David
S. Shifflett of Capon Bridge; paternal grandfather, Lewis L
Ludwig Sr. of Rio; paternal grandmother, Joyce Rollyson of
Moorefield; special paternal grandparents Oliver and Mary

was the son of the late Job Helmick and Laura (Thorne)
Helmick Ours. He was also preceded in death by his first
wife, Verda (Shirk) Helmick and his second wife, Cleo
(Keplinger) Helmick. He is survived by two half sisters,
Lucy (Hedrick) Boor of Petersburg and Mary (Dell) Sites of
Hagerstown, Md. and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Feb. 13, at the
