Mrs. Beatrice M. Cosner, 98, of Bayard, died Feb. 28, at the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg.

Born March 1, 1908, in Bayard, she was the daughter of the late John H. Spiker and Fannie M. (Rexrode) Spiker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lyle L. Cosner in 1968; one son, Delbert L. Cosner; one grandson, R. Craig Hawk; one great-grandson, Jacob T. Hawk; two brothers, Floyd Spiker and Burt Spiker; and one sister, Lillian Wolfe.

She is survived by two daughters, Dora L. Hawk and Rose Marie Hawk, both of Scherr; six grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were March 3, at Bayard United Methodist Church with the Rev. William McCallister officiating. Interment was in Bayard Cemetery.

Julius "Butch" Basagic, 82, of Mill Fall Rd., Fairmont, died Feb. 27, at his residence after a long illness following a stroke in 1989.

Born June 23, 1924, in Monongah, he was the son of the late Hasan Basagic and Rose (Eslary) Basagic. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Greta Rose Cain; three brothers, Hassan, John and Richard; and an infant sister, Doris.

On March 20, 1948, he married Anne Vukovich at Monongah Baptist Church, who survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Janet Ann Basagic of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; three sons, David J. Basagic of Franklin, Mark M. Basagic of Petersburg and John J. Basagic of Fairmont, who was his father's personal caregiver for 17 years; two sisters, Goldie Myers of Monongah and Julia Costalac of Enterprise; five grandsons, Morgan Basagic and his wife, Jessica of Moorefield, Neil Basagic and his wife, Kimberly of Petersburg, Julian Basagic of Franklin, Grant Parker Basagic of Petersburg and David B. Cain of Fairmont.

Funeral services were March 3, at the Monongah Baptist Church. Interment was at Mohammedan Cemetery, Monongah.

Mr. E. Scott Bergdoll, 89, of Moorefield, died Feb. 25, at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.

Born May 14, 1917, in Grant County, he was the son of the late George and Hattie (Shoemaker) Bergdoll. He was also preceded in death by an infant son; three brothers; and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Iona (Crites) Bergdoll; a son, Rosco Bergdoll of Moorefield; two daughters, Frances Funk of Purgitsville and Judy Jenkins of Moorefield; a brother, Ray Bergdoll of Moorefield; two sisters, Esther Simmons and Arvella Jones, both of Hagerstown, Md.; three grandchildren, Scotty Bergdoll, Tresa Wills and Jared Funk; and three great-grandchildren, Katelynn Wills, Keaton Funk and Tiffani Hinkle.

Funeral services were Feb. 28, at the Fraley Funeral Home chapel, Moorefield. Interment was in the North Mill Creek Cemetery, Dorcas.

Amelia Lahman (Painter) Young, 84, of Lakewood, Colo., formerly of Petersburg, died Friday, Feb. 23.

Born March 27, 1922, in Lahmansville, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Virginia (Lahman) Painter. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Jerolee Harris.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Young; one son, Michael Young of Owings, Md.; one daughter, Ann Pellow of Davis, Calif.; three brothers, Wayne Painter of Florida, Fred Painter of Shinnston and Romeo Painter of Springfield, Mo.; and three grandchildren, Adell and Mitchell Young and Tatianna Pellow.

Funeral services were Saturday, afternoon at the Basagic Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg, with the Rev. Stanley Kile officiating. Interment was in the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville. (3-13)

John Theodore "Boomer" Sites, 80, of Petersburg, died Thursday, March 8, at his residence.

Born May 29, 1926 in Dumplin Run, he was the son of the late Ray Albert and Grace Elizabeth (Vance) Sites. He was also preceded in death by one son, Gary N. Sites; and three sisters, Arvella Mae Combs, Bonnie?Jean Martin and Rosa Leoda Russell.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Arvella Ruth (Judy) Sites; two daughters, Jean Riggleman and Linda Keen, both of Petersburg; three sisters, Mary Thorne of Petersburg, Janet Carlyle and Viola McUlty, both of Winchester, Va.; two brothers, Norman E. Sites of Winchester and Dorse S. Sites of White Post, Va.; four grandchildren, Tonia Jones, Nikki Humphries, Tara Markwell and Nathan Keen, all of Petersburg; four great-grandchildren, Dylan Koontz, Adam Jones, Kaitlyn Koontz and Jacob Jones; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Tori Humphries.

Funeral services were Saturday afternoon at the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg, with Pastor Greg Rotruck officiating. Interment was in the Sites Cemetery, Dorcas.

Thomas Arnold "Tom" Michael, 83, of Fisher, died Sunday, March 11 at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.

Born July 5, 1923, in Medley, he was the son of the late Lyle and Ora G. (Cosner) Michael. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, John Michael and Earl Michael.

He is survived by his wife, Vera Mae (Bonner) Thompson Michael; one stepson, John Thompson of Maysville; five stepdaughters, Linda Rexrode of Brandywine, Brenda Simmons of Cherry Grove, Sarah Simmons of Culpepper, Va., Ann Thompson of Riverton and Sandy Lease of Romney; four stepgrandchildren; three sisters, Katherine Bennett of Cabins, Audra Winters of Romney and Mary Poling of Slanesville; four brothers, Ray Michael of Three Churches, Glenn Michael of Newmark, Ohio, Bobby Michael of Romney and Arlie Michael of Petersburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are today (Tuesday) at the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Longbon officiating. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the VFW Post 6454 and JROTC. Interment will be in the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville.

Constance Ann "Connie" (Freeland) Langley, 42, of Petersburg, died Saturday, March 3, at the home of her parents after a short illness of cancer.

Born Oct. 21, 1964, in Petersburg, she was the daughter of Harrison P. Freeland and Shirley J. (Swick) Freeland, Petersburg. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Elvin and Ruth Swick and Frances Snodgrass.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, James Langley; two daughters, Stacey Roy of Keyser and Christy Will of Jacksonville, N.C.; one sister, Tina Billmyre of Moorefield; two brothers, John Freeland of Petersburg and Robbie Freeland of Romney; four grandchildren; several aunts and uncles and two nephews.

The body has been cremated and memorial services were private.

Elbert E. "Bobby" Lambert, 72, of Bayard, died Wednesday, March 7, at the Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland, Md.

Born Nov. 10, 1934, in Martin, he was the son of the late Russell E. and Edna L. (Rotruck) Lambert. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Virginia L. Reall.

He is survived by his wife, Nettie Alice (Gay) (McDonald) Lambert, one daughter, Brenda L. Severe of Oakland, Md.; three stepdaughters, Shelby J. Duckett of Florida, Sue Reall of Oakland and Gerry Nasser of Westernport, Md.; one stepson, Carl McDonald of Bayard; three brothers, Eugene Lambert and Ellsworth G. Lambert, both of Oakland and Gary D. Lambert of Cincinnati, Ohio; one granddaughter; nine stepgrandchildren and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Friday afternoon at Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, with the Rev. David Moon officiating. Military honors were accorded at the funeral home by the various veterans' organizations in southern Garrett County, Md. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery. (3-13)

Mrs. Goldie Arvella Jones, 77, of Hagerstown, Md., died Sunday, March 18, at the Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.

Born Jan. 11, 1930, in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late George Arnold and Hattie Rebecca (Shumaker) Bergdoll. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Jones in 2002; three sisters, Cornelia Garrett, Edrie Mullenax and Ora Bible; and four brothers, Freeman Bergdoll, George Bergdoll, Carmen Bergdoll and Scott Bergdoll.

She is survived by three sons, Dale E. Jones of Boonsboro, Md., Stephen A. Jones of Pensacola, Fla., and Richard Jones of Tyrone, Pa.; one sister, Esther Simmons of Hagerstown; one brother, Ray Bergdoll of Petersburg; six grandchildren and one great-grandson.

The Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport, Md., will be open after 9 a.m. today (Tuesday) for the convenience of the family and friends. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening?(Tuesday) from 6 - 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Larry Aikens officiating. Interment will be in the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown. (3-20)

Mrs. Emma Rachel (Yankey) Hedrick, 93, of Petersburg, died Tuesday, March 13, at her residence.

Born June 7, 1913, in Nokesville, Va., she was the daughter of the late John and Nannie (Bean) Yankey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Lacy Hedrick on May 20, 2005; one son, Raymond Dale Hedrick; an infant grandson, David Ray Hedrick; two sisters, Bertie Radier and Lettie Mowery; and two brothers, Raymond Yankey and Eston Yankey. Mrs. Hedrick was the last remaining member of her immediate family.

She is survived by one daughter, Betty H. Collins of Maysville; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Friday afternoon at the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg, with the Revs. Dr. James A. Ash and Allen Friel officiating. Interment was in the South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens, Petersburg.

Mrs. Anna Lee Rhodes, 76, of Putney, Ga., passed away on February 28, at Brownwood Nursing Home, Ga.

She was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Arnold) Ferrebee. She was also preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Lee Rhodes; and one sister, Helen Heishman.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bruce Rhodes; one son, Mike Rhodes of California; one sister, Norma Wilson of Keyser; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 31, at Knobley Cemetery, at 11 a.m. with her nephew, Steve Wilson and Pastor Dwight Ramsey officiating.

At her request, the body was cremated. (3-27)

Ellsworth Feaster, 84, of Petersburg, died Friday, March 23, at the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg.

Born Oct. 7, 1922, in Falls, W.Va., he was the son of the late Homer and Mabel (Hott) Feaster. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ura Wilt and Marion Turner.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Maxine (Keplinger) Feaster; two daughters, Judy Alt and husband, Sonny and Linda Smith and husband Thurman, all of Keyser; one son, Mike Feaster and wife, Janet of Petersburg; three grandchildren, Susan Wilson and husband Gary of Ashburn, Va. and Tara and Chase Feaster of Petersburg; one great-grandson, Alon Wilson; one sister, Blanche Getz of Cumberland, Md.; one brother, Wayne Feaster and wife, Mary of Short Gap; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Sunday afternoon, at the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg, with the Revs. William R. Brown and Richard L. Longbon officiating. Interment was in the Lahmansville Cemetery.

Mrs. Shirley Mae Crites, 71, of Rig, died Thursday, March 22, at the E.A. Hawse Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Baker.

Born April 16, 1935, in Hardy County, she was the daughter of the late John and Clara A. (Moyers) Shreve. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Tommy L. Crites Sr., in April 2005; one grandson; two sisters; and two brothers. She was the last member of her immediate family.

She is survived by two sons, Tommy L. Crites Jr. of Moorefield and Terry A. Crites of Rig; two daughters, Carolyn Crites of Petersburg and Kitty Hose of Old Fields; four grandchildren, Rachael McCausley, Jerud Crites, Amber Crites and Felicia Sharff; one great-granddaughter, Katie McCausley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Sunday afternoon at the Rig Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Brad Taylor and Wade Armentrout officiating. Interment was in the Newhouse Cemetery,?Rig.

James Thomas "Jim" Bodkins Jr., 66, died Tuesday, March 20, in Savannah, Ga., from injuries in a fall.

Born Aug. 19, 1940, in Greenfield, Ind., he was the son of the late James Thomas and Mildred (Eakin) Bodkins. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Larry.

Mr. Bodkins was a heavy equipment operator for D.J. Rail and Storm Service. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a graduate of Maxwell High School and was a member of American Legion Post #78, Petersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Burgess, whom he married June 28, 2003 in the Florida Keys. He is also survived by two sons, James Fredrick Bodkins of Lakeland, Fla. and Perry Grace of Pink Hill, N.C.; two daughters, Michelle Bodkins of Greenfield and Shelly Grace of Tennessee, and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were Monday morning at Gentry Morrison Northside Chapel, Lakeland. Interment was in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla.

David Wayne Berg, 43, of Maysville, died Wednesday, March 21, at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Va.

Born Aug. 21, 1963, in Petersburg, he was the son of Goldie M. (Burgess) Berg of Maysville and the late Donald "Bus" Berg.

He is also survived by his special companion of 16 years, Frances Davis; one daughter, Brittany Ann Berg at home; three sisters, Gloria Evans of Maysville, Marion Delawder and Shelly Stump, both of Moorefield; one brother, Donnie A. Berg of Moorefield; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Saturday morning at the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg, with Revs. Joe Dunsmore and Daryl Dunsmore officiating. Interment was in the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville.

Mrs. Lillian Rosetta Redman, 94, of Petersburg, died Friday, March 30, at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.

Born Oct. 22, 1912, in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Redman and Luella Redman Beckwith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Percy McGuire Redman in 1984; two granddaughters, Zandra Redman and Loma Jamison; four brothers, Jobe Redman, Loui Redman, Kenny Redman and Vaughn Redman; and two sisters, Hannah Lois Redman and Thelma Leoda Redman.

She is survived by four daughters, Celestine Redman of Keyser, Naomi Redman, Gretchen Bruce and Karen Wright and husband Conway, all of Petersburg; six sons, Percy Redman, Ronald Redman, Gary Redman Sr. and special friend Kimberly Thompson, all of Petersburg, Ricky Redman Sr. and wife Debra and LeRoy Redman, all of Staunton, Va., and Kenneth Redman and wife Della Mae of Franklin; four sisters, Irene Gaiter of Petersburg, Lola Gates and Judith Redman, both of Cumberland, Md. and Carol Campbell of Keyser; two brothers, Calvin Redman Sr. of Petersburg and King Beckwith of Moorefield; 51 grandchildren;57 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bonnie M. Bonner, 62, of Glen Burnie, Md., died Saturday, March 24, at her home.

Born May 24, 1944, in Bayard, she was the daughter of Ellen K. (Stahl) Anthony of Bayard and the late Rudy A. Anthony Sr. She was also preceded in death by one son, Paul McCrum Jr.

In addition to her mother, she is also survived by her husband, Max Bonner; one daughter, Rhonda Bonner of New York, N.Y.; two sons, Clayton McCrum of Hendricks and Eric McCrum of Parsons; two sisters, Dottie Reall of Gormania, and Betty Pritt of Burnsville; one brother, Rudy Anthony Jr. of Fairview; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were Wednesday afternoon at the Bayard Church of God, with the Revs. William McCallister and Bill Rhodes officiating. The body was cremated.

Conway C. Thorne, 89, of Petersburg, died Saturday, April 7, 2007 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Born April 7, 1918, in Dorcas, he was the son of the late George A. and Vernie (Mongold) Thorne. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one daughter, April Regina (Thorne) Tavenner; one great-grandson, Thomas Oliver; and one brother, Cletus Thorne.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen Rose (Berry) Thorne; two sons, George A. Thorne of Columbia, Md. and Timothy D. Thorne Sr. of Dorcas; one sister, Georgia Mae Stump of Dorcas; one brother, Carl J. Thorne of Dorcas; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be today (Tuesday) at 1 p.m. at the Brake Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Craig Howard officiating. Interment will be in the Brake Cemetery, Dorcas.

Lesley Ray Smith, 41, of Moorefield, died Monday, April 2, at his residence.

Born June 26, 1965, in Leesburg, Va., he was the son of Heiskell and Betty J. (Noble) Smith of Fisher.

He is also survived by two sons, Nathan Smith of Petersburg and Colton See of Moorefield; one daughter, Ashley Walker of Wardensville; one brother, Jerry Smith of Fisher; and one sister, Donna Lynn Smith of Maysville.

At his request he was cremated and his ashes will be scattered by his family at the old home place.

Bobbie Leonard Raines, 70, of Cherry Grove, died Monday, March 26, at his home after a battle with cancer.

Born Aug. 13, 1936, at Cherry Grove, he was the son of the late Bob and Nola B. (Hinkle) Raines. He was also preceded in death by his twin sister, Leah Belle Warner.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth (Thompson) Raines; two sons, Bobbie E. Raines of Franklin and Billy E. Raines of Circleville; four daughters, Wanda Lambert of Circleville, Melissa Simmons of Doe Hill, Va., Melody Jones of Barberton, Ohio and Carolyn Smith of Staunton, Va.; three stepchildren, Greg Lantz, Mike Lantz and Elizabeth Ashby; one brother, Bernard Raines of Circleville; one sister, Delores Rexrode of Franklin; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren.

Funeral services were Friday, March 30, at North Dry Run United Methodist Church with Rev. Earl Bible officiating. Interment was in the Hinkle Cemetery on Snowy Mountain Road.

Mrs. Anna Marie (Leach) Whitefield Oakes, 80, of Stephens City, Va., died Thursday, April 5, at her residence.

Born April 22, 1926, in Brushy Run, she was the daughter of the late Lester Marshall and Susannah Randall Leach. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Henry Oakes, July 31, 1998; and one brother, Charles Randall Leach.

She is survived by three daughters, Lillias Susan Kelley of Frederick, Md., Jeannene Marie Mitchell of Chambersburg, Pa., and Velma Louise Whitefield of West Palm Beach, Fla.; one son, William Lester Whitefield of Mount Airy, Md.; one stepdaughter, Carol Ann Fisher of Phoenix; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday morning, April 7, at the Rosedale Baptist Church, Winchester, with the Rev. David Martin officiating. Interment was in the Old Stone Cemetery, Frederick County, Va.

Mrs. Sandra Scripp Huffman, 69, of Crofton, Md., died Sunday, March 25 at the Crofton Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center, of Alzheimer's disease.

Born Dec. 16, 1937, in Kempton, Md., she was the daughter of the late Tony and Mary Scripp.

She is survived by her husband, James Bennett, whom she married May 17, 1997; one daughter, Rene Idoni of Martinsburg; four brothers, Tony Scripp and Christopher Scripp, both of Bayard, Ronald Scripp of Anderson, S.C., and Jeffrey Scripp of Fairmont; two sisters, Ramona Adams of Cleveland, Ohio and Kathy Pelle of Baltimore.

Funeral services were Friday, March 30, at Evans Funeral Home chapel, Bowie, Md. Interment was in Lakemont Memorial Gardens. (4-10)

Mrs. Imogene Brake, of Petersburg, died Saturday, April 7, at her daughter's residence in Petersburg.

Born Nov. 22, 1926 in Dorcas, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Eula (Bergdoll) Alt.

She is survived by her husband, Gene Brake, whom she married Oct. 26, 1949; one daughter, Donna Jean (Brake) Kuhn of Petersburg, two grandsons, Tyler Kuhn, and Jonathan Kuhn and wife, Melissa; one great-granddaughter, Klarissa; one aunt, Maxine Bergdoll of Petersburg and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Rodger Alan Simmons, 30, of Mount. Storm, W.Va., died Saturday, April 7, 2007, in Mount Storm.

Born February 18, 1977 in Cumberland, Md., he was a son of Roger R. and Patsy Jean (Vanmeter) Simmons of Mount Storm. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lawrence Simmons and his grandmother, Ruby Vanmeter.

In addition to his parents, are his fiancée Maranda Iser and her daughter Kiaira, of New Creek; two brothers, Shawn Simmons (and Crystal Dunithan) of Mount Storm and Joel Whisner (and wife Jessica) of Romney; niece Skylar; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Also surviving is his paternal grandmother, Margaret Simmons of Owings Mills, Md. and maternal grandfather, Austin Vanmeter of Elk Garden.

He and Maranda were expecting their first child together in November.

Born March 8, 1930, in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late John M. Swick and Stella Susan (Iman) Swick. She was also preceded in death by two infant children, Wilda Naomi Nelson and Dennis Marvin Nelson; three infant brothers, Charles Swick, Elvin Swick and George Swick; and four sisters, Dorothy Cain, Virginia Swick, Elizabeth Phillips and Kathleen Elza.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John M. Nelson; three daughters, Beverly Delaney and husband Earlie of Mount Clare, Rita Nelson and husband, Larry Troutman of Fort Ashby and Shelia Kesner and husband Tim of Keyser; two sisters, Evelyn Wratchford and LeeAnn Crawford, both of Petersburg; two grandchildren, Amanda Delaney Grose and husband, Benjamin of Stonewood and Nelson Kesner of Keyser; two sisters-in-law, Martha Swick of Broadway, Va. and Nellie Nelson of Glen Burnie, Md; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born Dec. 24, 1934, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Blanche C. (Whetzel) Malcolm. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lester Brown Malcolm in 1985; and two sons, David Anthony Keller and Christopher Neil Malcolm.

She is survived by one daughter, Felicia Starr Huff of Winchester; three sons, Wendall Cornell Malcolm of Dorcas, Gregory William Malcolm and Wesley Craig Malcolm, both of Winchester; one sister, Pat Henry of Moorefield; two brothers, David "Doug" Malcolm and Joe Malcolm, both of Moorefield; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Surviving is one brother, Ezra George of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.

Born Sept. 15, 1918, in Gormania, she was the daughter of the late Harry Baker and Minnie (Bosley) Bobo. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Nile Kent Field, whom she married on May 19, 1946; three sisters, Frances Elaine Sirbaugh, Lillian Margaret Winters and Winona Marie Patterson; one brother, Harry Wilson Bobo; and one infant sister, Norma Christina Bobo.

Born Oct. 3, 1928, in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Eston Reel and Lena (Riggleman) Reel. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Otha A. Markwood on Aug. 10, 2002; two sisters, Elsie Helmick and Leota Reel; two brothers, Glen "Pete" Reel and David Reel; and one stepdaughter, Dottie M. Hinkle.

Miss Ruth M. Barco, 93, of Petersburg, died Saturday, April 28, 2007, at the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg.

Born May 17, 1913, in Mill Creek, she was the daughter of the late Bailey Manathon and Estella Cecile (Conrad) Barco. She was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by two grand- nieces, Miss Pam Belt of Rocky River, Ohio and Faith Skinner also of Ohio; one second cousin, Miss Barbara Callis of Silver Springs, Md. ; and several great-grand nieces and nephews.

Miss Barco's request was that her body be donated to the Human Gift Registry, West Virginia University, Morgantown.

Charles Edward "Bucky" Harman, 41, of Columbia, S.C., formerly of Petersburg, died Wednesday, May 3, at the Palmetto Memorial Hospital, Columbia.

Born Feb. 20, 1966, in Petersburg, he was the son of Mary Alt of Mathias and the late John "Bud" Harman. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Deanna Kuykendall; paternal grandfather, Charles Harman and maternal grandfather, Carl Hott.

He is also survived by his stepmother, Hope Harman of Maysville; his maternal grandmother, Effie Hott of Romney; one brother, Cole Harman of Maysville; and one niece, Samantha Kuykendall of Rig.

Alva Austin Sites, age 87, of Petersburg, W.Va. died, May 27, 2007, at the Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg.

He was born Sept. 26, 1919 in Pansy, W.Va. He was the son of parents, Austin L. and Blanche Sites. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Mouse) Sites, Sept. 12, 2001.

After retiring and moving to Petersburg, he enjoyed working on and showing his old cars at parades and car shows. And attending theatrical productions with his wife.

Surviving are his wife of 58 1/2 years, Wanda L. (Goldizen) Nesslerodt; one daughter, Judith E Swiger of Keyser; two sons, John D. Nesslerodt of Burlington and Frank E. Mrs. Martha Rebecca Alt, 88, of Elkins, formerly of Petersburg, died Monday, June 11, at Elkins Regional Health Center, Elkins.

Born July 21, 1918, in Brushy Run, she was the daughter of the late Jacob A. and Mary "Molly" (Rexrode) Hedrick. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Arthur C. Alt, on Oct. 16, 2006. They were married Aug. 1, 1934. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Condie Hedrick and Pete Hedrick; and one sister, Hadie Hartman.

She is survived by two daughters, Rosalie Leatherman of Alamagordo, N.M. and Elinor Evans of Beverly; one son, Arthur C. "Buddy" Alt Jr. of Valley Bend; three sisters, Elva Ratliff and Mary Alexander, both of Harrisonburg, Va. and Juanita Miller of Luray, Va.; two brothers, Vernon Hedrick and Junior Hedrick, both of Harrisonburg; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Florence Marine (Kight) Smith, 87, of Baltimore and formerly of Moorefield, died Saturday, June 16, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Baltimore.

Born June 20, 1919 in Pierce, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Lottie (Fike) Kight. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Clifford Smith, Aug. 9, 1993; one brother; three sisters; and three nephews.

She is survived by one son, Clifford R. Smith of Baltimore; two daughters, Dottie Hornyak of Moorefield and Juanita Roehl of Baltimore; one brother, Orville A. Kight of Eglon; five grandchildren, Robin Jenkins, Kerry Ketterman, Scott Smith, Melissa Garvin and Jennifer Bedell; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Jimmy Gary Bennett, 51, of Maysville, died Friday, June 22, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.

Born March 19, 1956, in Keyser, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Bennett and Maxine (Skaggs) Bennett Cosner.

He is survived by his wife, Annette (Vance) Bennett; four sons, Ronald A. Bennett of Sugar Grove, Jeremy Simmons of Petersburg, Michael Fortino of Keyser and Steven Fortino of Martinsburg; four daughters, Dena Fortino and Kara Fortino, both of Fort Story, Va., and Alexandria Fortino and Veronica Fortino, both of Maysville; four sisters, Rose Mary Bennett of Wilsonville, Ore., Judy Ann Shultz of Hedgesville, Dinah Sue Bennett of Port Orange, Fla., and Nola Maxine Lawrence of Maysville; three brothers, Michael Lee Bennett of Wheelersburg, Ohio, Franklin Eugene Bennett and David H. Harry Layton Sisler, of Petersburg, W.Va, age 77, was called to be with the Lord, Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Grant Memorial Hospital after a brief, but courageous battle with lung cancer.

Born March 2, 1930, in Pierce, W.Va. to the late John and Lola Sisler, he was the loving and devoted husband to Arvella (Nee Miller) of 54 years.

He was preceded in death by one son, Thomas and is survived by two sons, Gary Sisler and wife Kim of Upper Black Eddy, Pa. and Robert Sisler of Sommers Point, N.J. Also surviving are two daughters, Beverly Slemmer and husband Charles of Levittown, Pa. and Cynthia Phares and husband Eric of Petersburg.

He was the adoring Pop Pop to 10 grandchildren, Tara Galubauch and husband Dave of Edgely, Pa., Amy Sisler of Levittown, Katie and Kristie Sisler of Upper Black Eddy, Bud Slemmer of Levittown, Jonathon Slemmer of Sefner, Fla., Amanda Slemmer of Levittown, Eric and Kelly Phares of Petersburg. He also leaves six great-grandchildren; Miranda, Brian, Joshua, Cody, Novalie and Payten.

He was a devoted brother to Sherman Sisler and wife Mary, Arlo Sisler, Goldie Kennard and husband Ed, the late Paul Sisler, Dora Harvey and Kenneth Sisler, and had several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at Basagic Funeral Home, Petersburg, on Friday, June 29, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. Pastor David Krause of Faith Assembly of God in Petersburg conducted the service. Harry accepted Jesus as his personal Savior under the ministry of Pastor Krause. Pastor Craig Howard from the Brake Church of the Brethren assisted.

Interment was in Fairview Cemetery, Oakland, Md., where full military honors were accorded at the graveside. (7-3)

Richard A. Leatherman, 84, of Burlington, died Saturday, June 30 at the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.

Born on Feb. 2, 1923 at Burlington, he was a son of the late Paul R. and Eula C. (Wallace) Leatherman. He also was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Smith and one great-granddaughter, Lola Grace Blackburn.

Mr. Leatherman was retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways with 12 years of service. He was also a farmer and formerly employed with Walter Yoder Contracting in Cresaptown, MD. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of Nancy Hanks Post # 3518, VFW, Keyser.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy G. (Rohrbaugh) Leatherman, a resident of Keyser; one daughter, Dorothy Blackburn of Burlington; two grandchildren, Jeffrey L. Blackburn and Barbara Plum, both of Burlington and three great-grandchildren, Jared Plum and Peyton and Lillee Blackburn.

Mrs. Kimble was employed by the Jefferson County Board of Education as a cook and was a member of the Jefferson County Service Personnel Association. She was a member of the Charles Town Order of Eastern Star and the Charles Town Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Stearl I. Kimble, whom she married Oct. 5, 1959; two daughters, Kathy S. Lane of Bunker Hill and Chastidy Bender of Kearneysville; one son, Steve I. Kimble of Middletown, Md.; three sisters, Mary Smith of East Lake, Ohio, Doris Evans of Hickory, N. Born April 16, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Riley Paugh and Bertha L. Paugh.

She is survived by her husband, Richard O. Lyons of Harrisonburg; two sons, Richard E. Lyons and wife Jenny of Harrisonburg and Douglas M. Lyons and wife Susan of Mount Storm; two brothers, M. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Zolula "Andy" (George) Wolfe; two sons, Carl "Bob" Wolfe and Jeffery Wolfe, both of Mount Storm; two sisters, Hilda Crisconi of North East, Md. and Francis Stieringer of Frostburg, Md.; one half sister, Irene George of McSherrytown, Pa.; three grandchildren, Erica Glotfelty of Oakland, Md., Jeremy Wolfe of Mount Storm and Jaime Wolfe of Stonewood; four great-grandchildren, Nicole Glotfelty, Kristin, Kaylee and Jacob Wolfe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
