The Petersburg Vikings turned a slow start into a dominant performance Friday night, knocking down 11 three-pointers and shooting 53% from the fl oor in an impressive 82-49 win over WVSSAC Class AA Region II opponent Philip Barbour. Philip Barbour jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, but the Vikings settled in, tying the game at 17 after eight minutes of play.

The Union Tigers picked up their fi rst win of the season Thursday night with a 50–33 road victory over the Valley Lumberjacks. Union built separation with balanced scoring and steady defensive pressure, holding Valley to 33 points on its home fl oor.

BY CLAY FRITZ A short notice change of schedule sent both Viking teams to Pendleton County on Wednesday night to face off against the Wildcats and Elkins. The evening showcased both high school and middle school teams from the respective schools.
