County commission receives $39,482 from opioid settlement

At the last Grant County commission meeting, attorney Hunter Mullens of
Mullens & Mullens, PLLC, presented commissioners with a $39,482.18 check as
part of ongoing opioid litigation settlements. “This is the third year of the distributions,” Mullens said, noting that payments
will continue for another nine years, though future amounts are expected to be
smaller.

Bake sale fuels Haunted Dream comeback plans

Terror on East Ave. was established in 2013 by owner Joni Mayle, who wanted to bring the excitement of larger haunted
attractions to her hometown after experiencing them in North Carolina. What started as a small, free community haunt
grew each year with the help of friends and family until it outgrew its backyard roots. From that foundation, Haunted Dream
was created, expanding into a full-scale attraction with over 20 themed rooms, dozens of volunteer actors, and thousands of
guests each October.

The Petersburg Vikings football team played host to the Moorefield Yellowjackets
Friday night in the Burke and Herbert Brawl.
Fans from both schools arrived early and packed Viking Memorial Field,
creating one of the best atmospheres for high school football in the tri-county
area. The Vikings, ranked fourth in the latest West Virginia Secondary School
Activities Commission ratings, pulled away in the second half to secure a 28-6 win.
