Michael “Mike” Dawn Snyder, 73, of Fisher, W.Va., went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Saturday morning, March 2, 2024, at his residence.

Born Sept. 24, 1951, in Petersburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late Clyde Paxton and Ona Dale Smith Snyder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters, two brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law.

Mike served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Vietnam era; worked as a carpenter in his younger years and built his family home using that knowledge. He worked for 20 years at Pilgrim’s Pride feed mill and retired from Hardy County Sheriff’s Office as a process server after six years of service.

He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Temple in Rig, W.Va., where he helped in the ministry by teaching and preaching God’s Word. He studied the Bible at length and would share his love for the Lord with anyone who would listen.

Mike, being a “jack of all trades,” was well known that he could “rig” anything and make it work. He spent his retirement taking his grandchildren hunting and fishing, making precious memories. His grandchildren meant the world to him, and he taught them to always put God first. Mike was an excellent cook, he loved cooking and Nevin his brother loved to eat it!

He will be greatly missed by all his family until they meet again.

“Concerning those which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 KJV.

Surviving is his loving wife of 52 years, Kathy Lynn Evans Snyder; two sons, Michael D. Snyder II (Aaron) and Aaron J. Snyder (Megan); two brothers, Charles C. Snyder and Nevin T. Snyder; one sister-in-law, Nancy Evans Taylor; one brother-in-law, Danny Poling; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held beginning at 11 a.m., March 16, at the Calvary Baptist Temple in Rig, with Pastor Steve Snyder officiant. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

A private graveside ceremony for the immediate family will be announced at a later date.

Expressions of condolences, shared memories and cherished photographs may be left on Mike’s tribute wall at www.fraleyfuneralhome.com honoring his remarkable journey and the impact he made in the lives of those he touched.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Fraley Funeral Home, Moorefield.
